18 doors of Ayodhya Ram Temple will be covered with gold; Height eight and half feet, weight 500 kg
The Ram Temple Trust said that the doors installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be plated with gold. Officials said that the construction of the door is progressing and the gold plating work will be completed by the first week of January. National media including Times of India are reporting the news.
A layer of copper is attached to the lower layer and gold is plated on top of it. Trust member Anil Mishra said that gold donated by devotees to the temple is used for the door. A Ghaziabad-based jeweler is responsible for installing the gold plates.
Each door weighs 500 kg, is eight and a half feet high, 12 feet wide and four inches thick. It can only be lifted by about eight people. The doors have beautiful designs of elephants, lotuses, peacocks, women etc.
The shrine has 46 doors. 18 doors on the ground floor will be covered with gold. The doors are made of teak wood specially sourced from Chandrapur in Maharashtra. The doors are carved by artisans from Hyderabad.
A team of 20 artisans and carpenters make the necessary doors to the temple. The construction work was carried out after staying in Ayodhya for about six months.
