US Elections 2020: In September, Joe Biden raised a record $383 million
For his election effort in September, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden raised $383 million, a record-breaking sum that eclipsed the previous month 's unprecedented fundraising.
The haul, revealed Wednesday night, leaves him in the bank just weeks before the November 3 election with $432 million.
In combination with the Democratic National Committee, he raised the capital.
Since winning the nomination, the gobs of cash Biden has boosted the sum to a full reversal of fortune for the former vice president.
He struggled to raise cash during the Democratic primary and was almost broke by the time he won the primary in South Carolina, which catapulted him to a commanding Super Tuesday performance.
A surge of donations and low spending has allowed him to overshadow the once-formidable cash reserves of President Donald Trump in the months since. In August, Biden's campaign and the DNC received $364 million.
"Biden thanked his followers and said he was" humbled "in the tweet announcing his September haul.
He added: "More work remains to be done, but I wanted to share the good news."
The Trump campaign has not yet published their numbers for fundraising in September.
