Chopta is a small town and a valley located in the state of Uttarakhand. The whole area is a haven of beauty, especially for those looking for a good place to relax, away from the hustle and bustle of a typical tourist hotspot. Chopta Valley is also a trekking destination to Tungnath, the third temple of the Punch Kedar, located at an altitude of 3.5 km.
Situated in the lap of the Himalayas, this empty natural destination offers views of the Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chakamba. It is located at an elevation of 2,680 m (8,790 ft) above sea level. Surrounded by forests of pine, deodar and rhododendron, Chopta village is rich in flora and fauna. Rare species include birds and muskrats. Chopta, also known as the Mini Switzerland of India, is located 29 km from Ukhimam and 162 km from Ishishikesh on the road from Gopeshwar to Guptakashi.
Chopta - Tungnath - Chandrashila Trekking is a popular trekking destination. The Chopta area has many treks and footpaths through the forests and meadows. The best known trekking routes in the Chopta region are Chandrasilla, Tunganath and Devariyattal.
