As protests against Israel's Gaza offensive continue around the world, a new move by Yemen's Houthis is worrying the world. The countries of the world demand that Israel stop killing civilians in Gaza. Last day, US President Joe Biden also made an indirect criticism. The UN General Assembly passed a resolution demanding a ceasefire.

It is at this time that the Houthis in Yemen have come forward with a warning to Israel. This is a Yemeni tribe that has been circling Saudi Arabia for a long time. The Arab coalition has not been able to completely defeat the Houthis, the Shiite factions working with the support of Iran. The Houthis have turned against Israel after reaching peace with Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis' first warning was that they would attack Israeli-owned ships passing through the Red Sea. The new threat is to attack any country's cargo ship to or from Israel. The Houthis, who first captured the ship carrying vehicles to Israel, launched a missile attack on the Norwegian ship the other day

The military operation is being carried out by the Ansarullah faction of the Houthis. Yemen is a country that started a popular struggle in 2011 during the Mullapoo Revolution. The Houthis took control of the capital Sanaa in 2014 after Ali Abdullah Saleh and Abdurrabb Mansour Hadi left the regime and fled to Saudi Arabia. The official administration shifted its center to Aden.

The arrival of Saudi coalition forces was in support of the official government in Yemen. The coalition forces returned without being able to subdue the Houthis. After the Israeli-Palestinian war, the Houthis turned against Israel. A missile attack from Yemen to Israel is impractical. It was in this situation that the Houthis decided to capture the ship going through the Red Sea.

Two weeks ago, the Houthis captured a ship carrying cars to Israel and released a video from the ship. The other day they attacked a Norwegian ship. The Houthis say the attack was on a ship carrying oil to Israel. But the Strinda ship authorities informed that they were going to Italy. Ambiguity remains in this regard.

It is possible to transport goods from Asia through the Red Sea through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Sea and then to Europe. The Houthis are blocking this route. British, French and US warships are present but the Houthis have not attacked. They say they only target ships with Israeli connections.

With this, foreign ships hesitate to go to Israel with goods. Foreign companies also demand higher insurance amount. Israel has sent warships to fight the Houthis. The US representative will visit Qatar next week to discuss the issue. Saudi Arabia has told the United States that taking action against the Houthis is only after much consideration.
