Israel will not cease fire; Famine spreads in Gaza
The UN Palestine Refugee Agency (UNRWA) has announced that relief supplies have become impossible to deliver in famine-stricken Gaza. Many people have not eaten anything for two or three days.
UNRWA head Filipe Lazzarini said that crowds blocking the streets of trucks bringing food to the camps were eating the food on the spot. At Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, multiple sick babies are being treated in one bed.
So far, 18,787 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza due to Israeli attacks. 113 Israeli soldiers have been killed so far. Meanwhile, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan arrived in Tel Aviv yesterday.
Foreign Secretary David Cameron has said Britain will not admit migrants responsible for violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. The European Union has also banned them. The violence committed by Israeli settlers against the Palestinians in the West Bank led to the attack by Hamas in southern Israel.
Hamas has gained support in Palestine
∙ As the war drags on, support for Hamas increases among Palestinians. A poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in the occupied West Bank found 44% supported Hamas. Last September it was only 12%.
At the same time, the survey also brought out popular sentiment against Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who rules the West Bank with Western support. 99% wanted him to resign.
The US recommends that Gaza be handed over to the Palestinian Authority after the war. Ismail Haniyeh, the supreme leader of Hamas, said that all Gaza projects that exclude Hamas are a myth.
